Gun Share

Program

Worked on this from concept to execution, requiring an innovative brand identity, social profiles, a new website, merchandise, event framework, and case study.

We share houses. We share bikes. We share cars. In this “sharing” economy, why not share automatic weapons, too? This satirical campaign had a serious intent: to provoke discussion and incite a debate. We tried to sell people the idea of sharing guns the same way we share Divvy bikes all over the country and asked ComplexCon attendees to sign a petition to bring this program to their neighborhoods.

This activation was strategically developed not only to appeal to the audience attending ComplexCon but also to take such a polarizing issue and frame it in a way where proposing a need for change wouldn't be so controversial. No matter what side of the aisle you sit on, the gun loopholes highlight obvious flaws that a lot of people can agree on.

Most Complexcon booths were trendy brands selling exclusive merchandise. Our booth gave out o our swag for free, as long as posted and tagged us on social media or shared or "thanked the politicians" who made loopholes possible.

The week leading up to the event, we placed stickers all over Chicago to spread the word about gun loopholes and drive people to our site.
